Our Pastors

Steve Young

Steve Young was born and raised in northeastern Massachusetts.  He was a child prodigy pianist, doing his first symphony orchestra solo at the age of 7, headlining a concert at the age of 12 and doing an hour-long solo classical piano recital at the New England Conservatory of Music at the age of 16.  He confessed Jesus as his Lord as a sophomore at Michigan State University.  He was baptized with the Holy Spirit in 1980 and began preaching with signs following soon thereafter.  He led worship and played the piano at Spirit-filled conferences around New England in the 1980's and 1990's and began traveling overseas to teach and practice divine healing in the late 1990's.  Steve is a graduate of Victory Bible Training Center, which is now in North Reading, Massachusetts.  Steve won multiple chess tournaments and was the Massachusetts Speed Chess Co-Champion the year before he moved to Maine to help with two church plants.  He married Rosie in 2002 and together they planted and pastored a church in Maine for about 16 years.  They moved to Tennessee and did traveling ministry until the Lord called them to start Encounter God Church.

Steve is a multi-instrumentalist (keyboards, drums, guitar, bass) who has written hundreds of songs.  Many of the songs sung in church are Steve's originals.   Steve also enjoys golf, although he frankly isn't that good at it.  He also enjoys writing silly songs just for the fun of it.

Rosie Young

Rosie Young was born and raised in Newfoundland.  God called her to the ministry at the age of 11.  She graduated from World Impact Bible Institute in Ontario, Canada.  She met Steve online, and when Steve told her that if she married him, she would be forever Young, she took him up on it.  She pastored a pioneer work with Steve in Maine before moving to Tennessee.
In addition to preaching, Rosie helps with praise and worship.

Steve and Rosie have two children and two grandchildren and are still sweethearts.
